About us

The Systems team provides oversight, support, and training for several key systems used by the research community to facilitate clinical research at Boston Children's Hospital (BCH). Our major applications include:

OnCore

OnCore supports and manages research studies conducted at BCH, including protocol management, subject management, coverage analysis, budgeting, and invoicing.

eRegulatory

eReg is a Part 11-compliant electronic regulatory binder system used to store and sign protocol, staff, and institutional documentation. It also enables remote monitoring for external research monitors.

Epic

In partnership with IT, the Clinical Research Operations (CRO) team manages workflows for the Epic research module. This includes patient study association management, encounter and procedure linking to ensure compliant research billing, research imaging ordering, and the use of tools such as research invitations, e-consent, and reporting.

Additionally, BCH uses numerous other systems to support clinical research operations, including the eIRB system (CHeRP), Vestigo for investigational drug management, and electronic data capture systems. The Systems team works to reduce redundant data entry by maintaining system interfaces, ultimately streamlining operations.
