Nutrition research dedicated to helping children reach their full health

We believe in a world where all children and families have access to healthy, nutritious foods.

"Nutrition security" refers to the equitable and stable availability, access, affordability, and use of nutritious foods to promote healthy lives as well as prevent and treat disease.

Why are we the Wunderfull Lab?

The Wu Lab conducts nutrition research dedicated to helping children reach their full health. Our purpose is to disentangle the disparities in childhood nutrition and obesity and lead impactful nutrition equity research to help children and their families reach optimal and full health.

Our lab is led by Allison Wu, MD, MPH, a clinician-researcher board certified in pediatric gastroenterology and nutrition as well as obesity medicine. She completed her fellowship in Pediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology & Nutrition at Boston Children’s Hospital and the Harvard-wide Pediatric Health Services Research Fellowship at Mass General Hospital for Children.

Our research embraces the "Food is Medicine" approach, which integrates food and nutrition interventions into the healthcare system. These interventions play a vital role in preventing and treating nutrition-related health conditions, including childhood obesity.

In our lab, we design and test innovative programs that help families access the healthy foods they need. We are committed to supporting families not only through research, but also by connecting them with community resources and strengthening the partnerships that make these programs possible. We strive to amplify community voices—ensuring that the families we serve are active partners in shaping the solutions that impact their lives.

Our Vision

“Having access to nutritious food is a basic human need.” - National Institutes of Health

We strive for a wonderful world, in which children have this basic human need met.
