Centering young voices: Exploring the intersections of gender diversity and chronic pain in adolescents and young adults
This study seeks to expand our understanding of the experiences of gender diverse adolescents and young adults (AYA) experiencing chronic pain, and how their pain care team approaches and understands gender-affirming care. This project uses both quantitative (surveys) and qualitative (interviews) data gathered from gender diverse AYA receiving treatment for chronic pain here at Boston Children's and from international multidisciplinary pain providers caring for AYA.
Developing a pediatric headache screening tool in youth with chronic headaches
This study aims to develop and validate the Pediatric Headache Screening Tool (PHST), which will be used to assess risk of poor outcomes in youth with chronic headaches. A large percentage of children and adolescents experience headaches and no known validated risk screening measures for pediatric chronic headache currently exist. The PHST was developed with goals of quickly identifying potential headache treatment areas to address and determining the level of risk faced by the patient.
