Given Dr. Lee's specialization within pediatric transplantation, her research interests are focused primarily on the impact of social determinants of health and financial toxicity on access to and outcomes following solid organ transplantation.
Research Background
Dr. Eliza Lee is an Instructor of Surgery at Harvard Medical School. She studied Chemistry and Religion at Gettysburg College and subsequently obtained her M.D. from the Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons. Following medical school, she pursued training in general surgery at the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston, MA.
Through clinical experiences at Boston Children’s Hospital, Dr. Lee developed an early interest in pediatric transplantation and conducted clinical outcomes research during residency under the guidance of Dr. Heung Bae Kim at Boston Children’s Hospital. After completing residency, Dr. Lee pursued adult abdominal transplant surgical training at the Johns Hopkins Hospital followed by a pediatric transplant fellowship at the Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh.
