Cosima Locher, PhD

cosimaMy research activities encompass meta-analytic, experimental and theoretical approaches. Since the release of the beta-draft of the ICD-11 by the International Association for the Study of Pain (IASP), I am investing Chronic Primary Pain syndromes. With (network) meta-analyses, I investigate the efficacy and safety of multiple interventions for Chronic Primary Pain. Likewise, I examined the efficacy, safety, and acceptability of prophylactic pharmacological and psychological treatments in pediatric migraine. Another focus of my research is dedicated to the effects, mechanisms and routes of administration of (open-label) placebos.

Apart from my affiliation at Boston Children’s Hospital, I am an adjunct senior researcher at the Division of Clinical Psychology and Psychotherapy at the Faculty of Psychology, University of Basel, Switzerland, as well as the School of Psychology, University of Plymouth, United Kingdom.
