AC511.0 - Clinical Epidemiology and Population Health (January)

Course Description

Clinical Epidemiology and Population Health allows students to develop skills to interpret evidence for the treatment of individual patients and provides an introduction to considering health and health care at the population level. Students learn basic concepts and skills including those related to common study designs, causality, statistical inference and diagnostic testing. Examples of conditions with ramifications for both patients and populations include obesity, diabetes, heart disease, cancer, vaccine-preventable infectious diseases and pandemic influenza. An overarching goal is to make clear that the problems of individual patients and those of populations form a continuum, requiring both coordinated treatment of individuals and community-wide interventions.
